Perry and Mayer are at the top of Cowell's wish list. He would love to have both of the musicians on the show. He offered the couple $20 million to appear on the next season of the "X Factor."
Simon is hoping that their romance will pull in enough viewers. The media isn't sure if fans care enough to watch Katy and John flirt on national television. Even Britney's short stunt on the reality show didn't pull as many viewers as they hoped.
It would be quite awkward if Perry and Mayer were to break up during the show's taping. Still, it could bring the ratings gold that Cowell desperately needs.
