Katt Williams hangs up his comedy gloves

Katt Williams has had it. The embattled comic announced he's retiring from his stand-up career.

According to an article published by E!Online on Tuesday, Williams told KOMO-4 News in Los Angeles that "I've discussed it with my kids, I wasn't gonna do in the middle of a Seattle street, I was going to go to Los Angeles and do it in the offices of ICM or LiveNation."

Williams has been in a lot of unusual trouble (for him) lately. Running from the cops on a motor scooter and getting into fistfights with convenience store patrons has left many suspecting the comedian has come under some dark influences, possibly even drugs or alcohol.

It's not unlike the trouble fellow comedian Tracy Morgan suffered a few years back. But he was able to parlay that fame into a memorable, based-on-real-life character on the hit series "30 Rock."

Whether or not Williams can pull off the same stunt remains to be seen. The comedian has a small, but devoted circle of fans, many of whom would be sad to hear he's quitting comedy.

Or, as they would say on Fark.com, "In other news, Katt Williams had a comedy career."

What do you think? Are you a fan of Katt Williams? Will you be disappointed if he retires from comedy?
