Comedian Katt Williams continues to be in the news. He was arrested on Tuesday, the same day a bench warrant was issued for his over missing an arraignment, though he was released late Tuesday evening.
A Sacramento judge issued a bench warrant for William's arrest yesterday when the comedian failed to show up for his arraignment, which stemmed stemming from his wild police chase back in November. In that incident, one of many recent ones, Williams drove his three-wheeled motorcycle on the sidewalk, the wrong side of the road, and failed to stop for police.
Police eventually halted the chase for public safety reasons. Williams has been charged with evading a police officer while driving recklessly, a felony.
Since he missed his hearing, he was arrested and originally held on $100,500 bail.
When released late Tuesday evening, Williams explained the situation to TMZ (video embedded), implying it was all a misunderstanding. According to Williams, he missed the hearing on the motorcycle incident because he is only one person and appear in two courtrooms at once. To him, the other case was more important as it involved the custody of his children.
It's unclear why Williams didn't try to have either of the hearings rescheduled or have legal representation appear in his stead. When when asked if his appearance resulted in the custody of his children, Williams replied,
No, I actually don't [have custody] ... the lady who tried to take 'em and lost in court twice, they gave 'em to her.
