Singer/Songwriter Katie Herzig will make her way to Los Angeles to play The Troubadour as part of her Spring Tour. The show takes place on April 8th, coinciding with the release of her new album, Walk Through Walls. This is Herzig’s fifth full-length album and the follow up to her critically acclaimed The Waking Sleep (2011).
Although technically an “under the radar” artist, Herzig has had quite the impressive career. In addition to touring as a headliner, she’s also supported acts like Sara Bareilles, Ingrid Michaelson, The Fray, and Brandi Carlile. Her music has been featured in several films and trailers: Sex and The City, Saving Mr. Banks, We Bought a Zoo, etc… and has been in heavy rotation on Grey’s Anatomy and Pretty Little Liars.
Walk Through Walls covers an array of topics, including how Herzig dealt with the loss of her mother. On her website she says, “Songwriting takes you to that place where every feeling deep inside comes to the surface. There were moments I was afraid I may never be able to write a song again with out cry-singing.” With much determination, Herzig was able to turn the tears into music. “Once I got that out of my system, I was able to move on and write lots of songs, thank God.”
In preparation for the tour and new album, Herzig released her entire catalog (81 songs) on Noise Trade for free. Fans were asked to tip as they checked out with proceeds going to Steps of Faith to help raise money for amputees.
Tickets to the show are $15 and available at www.troubadour.com.
