Katie Couric Talk Show Cancelled

In what would appear to be a mutual decision, Katie Couric's syndicated daytime talk show has been canceled. According to Us Weekly and Yahoo News, Katie Couric and ABC made a joint announcement on Thursday, December 19 regarding the demise of the talk show. There had been high expectations for the show, but it only averaged 2.2 million viewers. Apparently, Couric also preferred to cover topics that weren't necessarily ratings-builders for daytime talk shows. “Katie” premiered in September 2012 and will end officially in June 2014. However, there is also good news on the horizon. The announcement was also made that Katie Couric will be joining Yahoo News as a global anchor. Ms. Couric is reportedly slated to begin this position sometime in early 2014. Yahoo CEO, Marissa Mayer, revealed that Couric will be heading up a team of news correspondents who cover news events and personalities across the globe.
