Katie Couric, during a taping of her show, "Katie" on Wednesday told the studio audience that her late husband, Jay Monahan's phone has been dialing 911 at 2 a.m. every Tuesday morning over the last month.
Katie said at first she didn't even know it was happening because she had been out of town. Then last night she was awaken by a call from an emergency operator asking if everything was alright. That is when she found out that the landline phone in her home, that once belonged to her late husband was calling 911 all by itself.
Katie called the police commissioner Ray Kelly for advice.
"This is one of the perks of being well-known, that you can get through to Ray Kelly," Katie said, reports the Daily News.
The police are now checking to see if the phone calls are caused by someone who is "spoofing" the phone number and causing it to make the call.
Katie is not the only one that has been a victim of strange phone calls. Justin Beiber, Charlie Sheen and Tom Cruise have had their phone's spoofed.
