Talk show host, Katie Couric got engaged to John Molner over the Labor Day weekend, People Magazine reports today September 3.
Molner, 50 proposed to Couric at sunset on the beach in East Hampton, NY. Couric’s rep confirmed the engagement according to PEOPLE.
Couric has been a widow since losing her husband Jay Monahan to colon cancer in 1998. During an interview with People Magazine in 2011 she shared some insight on her expectations for her future and finding love again.
"I used to worry a lot about the future who knows what it will bring?" she said. "Hopefully it will bring good things."
Couric first went public with their relationship in April 2012. Couric confessed to the press later that year, "He's great. He's from Chicago. I love Midwesterners!"
Couric started her career as a journalist on NBC News and CBS and currently hosts her own day-time talk show, “Katie” , the new season premieres September 9. Molner is the head of mergers and acquisitions at Brown Brothers Harriman and the happy couple have been dating for nearly two years and they have not released a wedding date to the public.
