Although filming for Season 5 of “The Real Housewives of New Jersey” is well underway, Kathy Wakile is remaining mum on whether she’s still one of the main cast members or has become just a “friend” of the other ladies.
Examiner.com spoke exclusively with Kathy via phone about the new season but she wouldn’t directly answer questions about rumors her role on the show has been reduced.
As reported earlier all of the other regulars – Kathy’s cousin, Teresa Giudice, Caroline Manzo, Jacqueline Laurita; and Melissa Gorga – will be back. But there has definitely been some housewives juggling. Teresa’s friend and Sotheby’s real estate agent, Jennifer Dalton, is now an official Real Housewife. Two of Teresa’s other friends – Kim D. and Priscilla DiStasio – will also be seen more on the show.
“I can’t really talk about that just yet,” Kathy said about her role in Season 5. “You’ll have to watch and see what happens with that.” Bravo has declined to spill the beans as well.
We may not find out for a while about Kathy’s alleged friend status, but she noted past friendships on the show will be different.
“There are changes in everybody’s relationships,” Kathy added. “It’s not what you would think. The relationships have changed quite a bit. Some people who were friends aren’t and some people who weren’t friends are.”
When asked if Teresa will remain the focus of the drama in any case, Kathy said, “It’s hard to tell,” adding that only about half of next season has been filmed.
“There’s always going to be drama – you can count on that,” Kathy said. “There are also a lot of fun, fun moments and a lot of family time.” And yes, Kathy’s outspoken sister and breakout star, Rosie Pierri, will still be around.
Kathy did tell us about one of the storms the housewives will have to weather. She said we’ll see the effect Hurricane Sandy had on their lives. Remember the Jersey Shore is the gang’s favorite summer playground and it was the setting for last season’s opener. Some of the housewives have second homes there.
“Everything got off to a wild start because of Hurricane Sandy – we were affected like most of New Jersey,” Kathy explained. “We all had some damage. The houses at the Shore were worse than up here (in the northern part of the state).”
Do you think Kathy should be concerned about a new housewife being added to the show?
