On last night's "Kathy," Kathy Griffin started her irreverent monologue by giving her opinion of the upcoming Oscar ceremony. She said that her invitation to Madonna's after party must have been lost in the mail. She had a live male model, painted gold and looking much like the statue. He assisted her with her list of all the best picture nominees. She found a reason to nix most of the nominated movies with convoluted reasons and finally decided on "Life of Pi," because she just loves pie in all flavors.
She went through a simulation of the gigantic goody bag that is given to attendees of the ceremony and gave the items to the audience after first bashing each of the items. As usual, her 92-year-old mother was in the audience as she welcomed her guests; Kate Walsh, Steven Weber and Aubrey Plaza. As the three were introduced, Kate Walsh, of "Private Practice" dropped her drink and it spilled all over her legs.
Aubrey, of "Parks and Recreation," brought in a painting she purchased from a man who was in prison and his image of what she looked like naked. It had to be cleared through the legal department, but because it was considered art, it was alright to show the large rear end of the woman in the painting. Kathy then brought out a painting of her that was done by Erik Menendez, who is incarcerated with his brother for killing their parents.
Steven is currently featured on "Dallas" as the governor of Texas. On a segment called "Explain This," Kathy asked him to explain a photo of he and Jason Alexander dressed in drag from a benefit for breast cancer as they did a song from the play, "Sugar." He admitted that he looked like Glenn Close after a hard night. Kate's picture she asked to explain was her with a large black figure of a penis from a movie she did with Steven in 2005 called "Inside Out." Aubrey had to explain a classic "spit take" on the "Jay Leno Show."
One thing on Aubrey's bucket list was to have her ear pierced by Kathy on television with Kathy's mother holding her hand. A professional piercer came on with his garish tattoos and multiple piercings. He gave Kathy the piercing tool and instructed her. The earring was a bit high on the earlobe and can be redone off camera.
As her theme song states, Kathy will say what is on someone's mind if they do not have the guts to say it. On a segment called, "I'll Watch It For You," she reviewed the "Shahs of Sunset" reunion episode where Lily kept a secret from her parents until two before it aired. She asked the guests if they ever kept a secret from their parents? Aubrey told Kathy when she was fifteen, she sent away for a kit to become a spy. She used her parents' credit card and got in big trouble.
They showed UFC clips where a female ultimate fighter used a signature move to win all of her fights. She asked if any of them were in a girl fight, and Aubrey replied that she was punched by a girl after a basketball game for being too aggressive during the game.
Kathy also showed a clip from "Pitbulls & Parolees" and gave her take in her own spoof called "Kathy's Kompassionate Kanines," with the initials KKK. She had some tattooed dudes as the parolees and her staff in clothes comparable to street people. She had several breeds of dogs that she called pitbulls. She wanted them to be adopted and stated notorious rap sheets for each of the pooches.
In honor of the Oscars, she gave audience awards of free movie tickets to categories like; best chance of joining One Direction, Best Swingers, Best White Diana Ross and the Best Rented Outfit.
