Anderson Cooper will have a welcomed face back on CNN's New Year's Eve Show on the final day of 2013. The established newsman will once again be standing next to Kathy Griffin in Times Square for the final minutes of the year. Announcing the news on Sunday, it was surprising to hear that Griffin would be returning to the show and even Anderson Cooper sounded a little shocked.
"Making plans for New Year's Eve? Join @ kathygriffin and me on #CNN.... I know, I can't believe they re-hired her either," tweeted Anderson cooper from his official Twitter account. It was obvious the CNN broadcaster was joking about his surprise over the re-hire. The social media announcement had people deciding what their plans might be to celebrate the big day.
While people might be thinking that comedian Kathy Griffin ushering in the year on the news channel is odd, it's not really unexpected. Last year Kathy Griffin didn't break any rules on air and most people will admit to finding it amusing to watch the star stars mingle. Some of the least likely characters to usher in the New Year while watching the festivities in New York City, it just seems fitting to watch.
