If you've been watching CNN ring in the new year for the past few years, you know that Kathy Griffin will try her best to get banned from CNN or the new year's show -- or TV -- forever sometime during the night's activities. It remains to be seen whether or not she accomplished the feat this New Year's Eve (Dec. 31) in Times Square with her CNN co-host Anderson Cooper, but she just might have. What did she do? Well, besides refer to Cooper's privates as "Christmas presents," she had him ducking and crouching and protecting himself from her advances for quite a while on the live broadcast just after she quickly leaned over and apparently kissed him in the crotch.
That is correct and no typo. The "Life On The D-List" Emmy winner kissed Anderson Cooper on his nether area on live television in Times Square.
As Cooper attempted to segue into something -- anything -- else to get beyond the moment, Griffin kept playfully moving, crouching, and ducking her head. Cooper would mimic her actions, trying to ward her off. In fact, he got so gun-shy of the smallest dips of Griffin's head that he was caught a couple times going into a protective crouch even when she didn't appear to be about to do anything.
Cooper, who is used to Griffin's hijinks and refers to her getting into trouble frequently, was giggling throughout the show. But she already had him a bit nervous when, ten minutes into the annual CNN show, Griffin told him, "I'm going to tickle your sac. Do you have a sac?"
"I don’t know what you’re talking about," Cooper said, laughing. "I have no sack of Christmas presents here."
"Do you call your privates your Christmas presents?” Griffin wondered. "Typical hot guy," she said to the camera.
And as CNN correspondent Gary Tuchman was brought in, Griffin made her move. Cooper, taken unaware, embarrassedly covered his face with his hand. That's when Griffin went in for another. Cooper turned his back and the ducking, dodging dance began.
Still, CNN and Anderson Cooper are all too aware of Griffin and her penchant for the outrageous. She dropped the f-bomb in 2009, making light of the Balloon Boy story (and substituting "f***ing" for the little boy's name, Falcon Heene), prompting stories that she was banned from CNN. However, she was not.
Last year, while Cooper was doing a bit of commentary during the live CNN broadcast, Griffin took off her dress. Standing in Times Square in her matching black bra and panties, she told Cooper that just seeing Lady Gaga perform had inspired her.
But she left the body exposure to other's for this New Year's Eve...
So did she go a little too far this year? We may have to wait an entire year to find out...
