Kathy Griffin stopped by “The Late Show With David Letterman” last night and showed no remorse for her New Year’s Eve antics on CNN. That night she infamously dropped to her knees to kiss in the New Year on Anderson Cooper’s crotch. The controversial comedian has done everything from strip down to her bra, to dropping the dreaded “F-Bomb” on live TV, while co-hosting the New Year’s festivities. Monday night was the sixth year Kathy Griffin and Anderson Cooper rang in the New Year in Times Square together on CNN. Kathy is proud of her news-making New Year's Eve CNN moment with Anderson Cooper, according to USA Today.
David Letterman attempted to recap what happened on New Year’s saying Kathy, “tried to go down on Anderson Cooper”, then asked her exactly what she did. “If you think this is the part where I'm going to apologize…you are sorely mistaken”, the fiery 52 year-old said.
The whole situation unfolded when a reporter from a small town in Maine relayed to the co-hosts the local New Year’s tradition of kissing a sardine on the mouth. Kathy Griffin was apparently inspired. The red-head dropped to her knees, as viewers watched her kiss 45 year-old Anderson Cooper’s crotch, according to the Advocate.
Cooper didn’t seem to realize what was happening at first, then uttered, “Kathy, oh, did you drop something”? As the silver-haired news guy nervously giggled, Griffin made numerous tries but Anderson kept pulling her back to her feet.
Anderson Cooper had apologized ahead of the telecast via Twitter, “for any number of possible TV infractions”. Kathy’s stunt has been a hot topic around the water cooler and in the tabloids.
When Letterman replayed the clip from the night he asked her, “Let's say a man on television did that to you. What would your reaction be”? Griffin quickly snapped, “If it was Anderson Cooper, myself and every other gay guy and woman, I'd unzip so fast. Hands down”.
Kathy’s previously scheduled appearance was to promote her stand-up special “Kathy Griffin: Kennedie Center On-Hers” which premieres Jan. 3 at 10 p.m. EST on Bravo. On Jan. 10, season two of her hit talk show “Kathy” returns to Bravo as well.
Meanwhile, Perez Hilton shared a pic of Kathy Griffin, 52, strolling from her “swanky” hotel on her way to the Ed Sullivan Theater to tape the show yesterday. She was holding hands with her 33 year-old boyfriend Randy Bick.
Hilton joked that if Hugh Hefner can marry a girl 60 years younger, Kathy has nothing to apologize for, as long as she has him home before curfew.
