Kathryn the Grape, a brand created by San Diego entrepreneur Kathryn Cloward, is seeking $17,000 in funding to develop an interactive mobile app for Kathryn the Grape's Piece of Love, the recently released third book in the Kathryn the Grape Affirmation Series. With the new app, which will be translated into other languages, Kathryn the Grape's peace-building message will be accessible to children around the world; the book teaches how everyone has a piece to contribute peace on our planet.
"I got excited about crowdfunding after attending a seminar last year presented by San Diego-based StartupCircle," Cloward said. "I was seeking a way to reach more children--to give them the tools they need to develop positive self-esteem through Kathryn the Grape, the only character-driven, multi-layered, mom-created brand focused on kids' personal development."
The 44-day campaign to fund the Peace of Love app will run through March 27. You can learn about the app's benefits and make donations at kathrynthegrapeindiegogo.com.
Cloward chose to use the Indiegogo crowdfunding platform for two main reasons: it offers convenient payment options by accepting credit cards and Paypal, and it has an option to receive your funds even if you fall short of your goal.
"I want it to be easy for people to support us," Cloward said. "I also don't want to see our supporters' efforts go for naught if we don't reach our $17,000 goal--even though we're aiming high and hope to exceed that number."
