The ladies who host the, "Today" show, Kathie Lee and Hoda, celebrated their month long sobriety of not drinking alcohol on air by, well, drinking alcohol.
Large glasses of alcohol to be exact.
The pair who drink regularly while hosting the show, gave up drinking alcohol on TV for the month of January after Ladies Home Journal asked them to stop to help promote heart health.
The pair happily obliged, though they did continue to drink off the air.
Every day for a month, the ladies would count down the days, and complain about the beverages they were drinking instead, milk, orange juice, green stuff.
Their fellow anchors on the show, Matt Lauer, Savannah Guthrie, and Al Roker all joked about the month long sobriety of the pair by saying they were thrilled that the time was up.
Matt said;
"The makeup room was hell, I've never seen crankier, moodier women in my entire life."
"All I can say about them drinking again is hallelujah,"
Savannah did say though the fact that they did not quit while off the air did help;
"What helped them was that that they continued to drink. Behind the set, and during commercials. I think the fact that they didn't stay sober during their month of sobriety really eased the tension around here."
To celebrate being able to drink again while on the air, they drank huge glasses of Colby Red wine, and had cocktails and ended with a shot of vodka.
Kathie informed the viewers that all profits went to heart health and called the day, "Wineday Wednesday", laughing and saying that it was hell.
Yes, it may have been hard, and maybe the two girls are a bit more entertaining with a drink or two in them, but what does this say to the viewers?
Is promoting alcohol on a daytime television show a good thing?
Is the fact that the ladies feel the need to drink while on the air at work mean they have a problem with alcohol? Some say yes.
What do you think?
Harmful or harmless fun?
