Adoptive mom Katherine Heigl is working hard to bring awareness to the needs of abandoned dogs. According to a March 20 Perez Hilton report, Heigl and her mom, Nancy, started a foundation to help rescue dogs.
The Jason Debus Heigl Foundation helps dogs like, Wendy, who was found abandoned in an empty apartment. Wendy had no food or water and was suffering from one broken leg, plus a large open wound on another leg. She weighed half of what she should have in good health.
Katherine’s organization has been working hard to rehabilitate Wendy and the pooch is making great progress. Wendy is now sporting green casts on two legs and is putting on weight.
Heigl is launching a new pet product line called Just One, which will include collars, pet toys and other goodies. Profits from the line will go to help dogs like Wendy. Katherine Heigl is committed to bringing awareness to the need to stop animal cruelty. Her daughters will certainly follow their own passions some day soon as the result of having such a motivated mom.
