"Grey's Anatomy" is losing one of its most popular stars. According to reports Katherine Heigl, who portrayed Dr. Izzie Stevens for six years on the program, is saying farewell due to both creative differences and a budding film career.

Really, this news is something most of us have been expecting for quite some time. Heigl took herself out of Emmy considering in 2008 due to what she felt was poor "material," and then she also complained about a long day of filming on an episode of "The Late Show With David Letterman."

Then -- almost as a form of retaliation -- the writers made her have a love affair with the ghost of her dead boyfriend. Izzie's character has become increasingly unpopular with fans, so this move shouldn't really come as much of a surprise to anyone.

Heigl's film career officially started to rise after appearing with Seth Rogen in "Knocked Up" (though she later insinuated that the film was sexist). She has also appeared in such films as "27 Dresses" and "The Ugly Truth."

The actress was expected back to the "Grey's" set on March 1 following a maternity leave to be with her adopted child -- however, she never actually showed up.

Is this a good move for "Grey's Anatomy?" Let me know your thoughts with a comment and stay tuned for more TV news.
