Congratulations are in order to actress Kate Winslet who has just contracted for her latest modeling role with US brand St. John, replacing actress Angelina Jolie as the face of the fashion label.
Kate Winslet has done a spread for St John’sAutumn/Winter 2011/2012 advertisement campaign, donning some of the brand's figure-hugging knitted dresses and stylish outerwear.
Winslet also endorsed St John, saying that she loves the clothes because they make her look extremely chic without trying too hard. Kate believes they’re clothes that anyone can wear – not just models, and that it meant a lot to her to transmit that message of strength, power and feminity in a “real shape.”
The ads themselves are very sultry with Kate Winslet striking some pretty sultry poses in shapely knit pieces, accessorized just right...
The changeover from Jolie to Winslet does, however, come as a bit of a surprise to many in the industry as Angelina had been with the label for over five years.
St. John is saying that they had to end the working relationship with Jolie as it “overshadowed the brand,” and as well as they wanted to make a clean break from actresses and steer away from blondes and cleanse the palette!
Interestingly, they chose another actress and a blonde – a little confusing to say the least but Kate Winslet does do a great job of it as an actress and a blonde…
The 35-year-old Winslet is also not the skinniest of models for knits either – she does tend to be on the “softer” side…
