Supermodel Kate Upton worked out 90 to 120 minutes a day and followed a super-strict low-carb diet for four months to prepare for her Sports Illustrated swimsuit photo shoot.
“[She did] boot-camp circuit training mixed in with cardio,” Kate's trainer, David Kirsch, told People. “Running, rowing and the elliptical. She followed my ABC’s: No alcohol, bread or processed carbs, and no sugar 24/7 with no cheat days."
In addition to her punishing diet, Upton did a seven-day cleanse for two weeks every month. Kate, 20, began working with Kirsh in August 2012 until her Sports Illustrated swimsuit photo shoot in December. For the first two weeks, the leggy 5-foot-10 blonde bombshell hit the gym twice a day without complaint.
Ironically, Upton is receiving heavy criticism in the blogosphere for being too fleshy, with some wondering why she's not leaner given her intense diet and workout regimen.
But Kate, who vehemently insists she'll never starve herself, brushed off the remarks, noting, "Mean comments definitely get to me, but obviously I'm doing alright."
