Kate Upton has been chosen to grace the 2013 Sports Illustrated swimsuit cover for the second straight year. Upton will be the SI's ninth model to appear on the cover for the second time, but the way Kate's star is rising she may hit double digits!
According to Forbes on Feb. 8, "an image of the 2013 cover was leaked early Friday, and quickly circulated the Internet. Sports Illustrated released a high-resolution version of the cover about two hours later."
The new SI swimsuit magazine will be available to the public on Feb. 12.
Elle Macpherson has the record of being the SI swimsuit cover girl on five different occasions. Upton may be giving her a run for her money a few years from now!
Somewhere you know Detroit Tigers pitcher Justin Verlander has to be thinking “was there really any other choice for this year’s cover?”
The swimsuit edition is more than just a fan favorite of the weekly magazine, it's a money maker.
Back in 2005 the swimsuit issue generated an estimated $35 million in ad sales alone and it is estimated that it brings in nearly seven percent of SI’s annual revenue.
Not bad from its original 4-6 page spread back in 1964.
