Kate Upton’s prom invitation – and her response – got national exposure on the “Today” show Wednesday morning, as the Sports Illustrated model called in during a live Jake Davidson interview. No more tweeting; the two spoke almost face to face, reports NBC Bay Area on Wednesday, March 20. Jake got a chance to re-pitch his hope that Kate Upton would attend his prom, via a televised feed.
Neither Upton nor the California teen actually sat in the NBC studios, but Davidson spoke on camera and Upton gushed her responses by phone.
Jake Davidson’s home-made video inviting the supermodel to his high school prom went viral Tuesday, and Kate tweeted a friendly response. She said she would check her schedule. Sure. That will work. But the thought counts.
Somehow, that all got Jake Davidson an interview on “Today.” But Kate Upton’s live, on-air phone call took him by surprise. “I absolutely loved the video,” she said on the show. “So hilarious and so creative!”
He rallied. He re-made his pitch, promising her fine dining and an extension of his parents’ curfew. Even a wrist corsage.
“If everything works out, I’d love to go with you,” Upton promised. But she hedged with the old “I’ll have to check my schedule” again. Obviously no serious checking had taken place. And just as obviously, she was not going to turn him down on live television.
Davidson got it, but no harm done. He has had his moment of fame. Now on to bigger and better things.
