It looks like Kate Upton is going to be the cover girl for Sports Illustrated swimsuit issue for the second year in a row. According to E! News on Feb. 8, the reveal was leaked earlier today.
This will actually make Upton’s third straight appearance on the cover. In 2011 she was on the cover of Sports Illustrated swimsuit issue in an inset pic for Rookie of the Year.
This year’s issue is a “Polar Bare” theme and was shot down in Antarctica. That had to be pretty cold for the models to pretend that they were having a great time. This is Upton’s first year sporting no bikini top and instead just a coat.
Kate Upton joins the elite list of other models who have graced the cover of Sports Illustrated swimsuit edition. Christie Brinkley had three straight years as the cover model in 1979, 1980 and 1981. Elle MacPherson had two cover model appearances in 1986 and 1988. Paulina Porizkova appeared in 1984 and 1985 and Tyra Banks appeared in 1996 and 1997.
David Letterman has nine models plus Kate Upton appearing on his Monday night show for what was suppose to be an official reveal. Guess it won’t be so official anymore. Will you be purchasing the new 2013 Sports Illustrated swimsuit issue? Sound off below.
