Congratulations are in order for Kate Upton! She was officially chosen as the cover girl in the 2013 Sports Illustrated swimsuit issue. E! News reported on Feb.8 that the new cover issue photo wasn’t supposed to be revealed until Feb. 11 when she would appear on the David Letterman show. Nine other swimsuit models will also be making an appearance on the “Late Show with David Letterman” that will have Sports Illustrated fans glued to their television sets.
A few of the other guest that are scheduled to appear on the show with Letterman are Bruce Willis, Jerry Seinfeld and Helen Hunt.
The 2013 cover model will join an exclusive sorority of fashion icons, including previous Swimsuit cover models Heidi Klum, Cheryl Tiegs, Kathy Ireland, Christie Brinkley and Tyra Banks, among others.
This is the third appearance Upton’s photo has appeared on the cover. In 2011 she had a spot on the cover when she was named Sports Illustrated Rookie of the Year. In 2012 she was blessed with the cover photo and again this year for 2013.
This year’s photo isn’t the usual photo shoot the magazine usually placed on the front cover. The photo shoot took place in Antarctica. The theme of the cover says “Kate Upton Goes Polar Bare”. And she did just that. Kate posed for the cover in a skimpy bikini bottom with polar white hooded parka. The usual string bikini top was eliminated and she bared her cleavage while the temperature was 30 degrees outside.
Now that is cold and there isn’t a goose bump to be found on the photo. Models do have to endure a lot during their careers and this shoot was no exception. Fans everywhere totaling over 70 million adults, hope she is completely thawed out, happy to hear she has returned back to the states and thoroughly enjoyed her trip to Antarctica.
The new issue of Sports Illustrated magazine will appear on newsstands Tuesday. The publication will also include magazine tablet and mobile editions too.
