Yes, The Mission Ranch is the best bar for hanging with the over 50's crowd, especially if you go for the characters dancing around the piano but what about the rest of us?
For those in their 40's or the wannabes? I say the bar at Il Fornaio on Friday nights – especially because they have the most interesting mushroom appetizer during Happy Hour ~
White mushrooms are cubed, and tossed with lemon and olive oil and perhaps a secret ingredient ~ perhaps a special salt and pepper, served with thin slices of toasted baguette, ~ a simple dish but well executed, low in calories and high in nutrients. They also have pizza and other appetizers as well.
And what about those in their 30's ? 20's ? Brittania Arms for one, cause it has character as well as drinks, and Planet Gemini in Seaside for those who love to dance, running running neck and neck with Cibo's at the end of Alvarado Street, which has collected many 'bests' in other catagories.
I wager a lot of friends and family show up regularly at the AW Shucks Bar and Restaurant on Ocean for all sorts of shooters, and I will be reviewing them as soon as I get a recipe from the chef – They have the BEST Bloody Mary I have ever tasted.
Best Pizza I have heard over and over again isfound at the Cafe Rusitca in Carmel Valley, but again I think it runs neck and neck with Allegro's Pizza at the bottom of the hill off highway 101 in the Barnyard:(note They do not discriminate, meaning you can bring your dog with you!) 3770 The Barnyard,Carmel, CA 93923-8751 phone: (831) 626-5454
Lastly, no matter how old you are you must go to Ted's bar at the Cypress inn for a chocolate espresso martini – that 's a wake up call if I ever had one!
Head's up for the week
