'Kate Plus 8' Jon Gosselin axed from TLC's 'Jon and Kate Plus 8'
Apparently Jon Gosselin has been axed from 'Jon and Kate Plus 8' paving the way for a new spin on the TLC show 'Kate Plus 8.' The renamed "Kate Plus Eight," which begins November 2, will continue to chronicle the lives of the Gosselin children, without Jon Gosselin, but will also focus on Kate's role as a single mother.
"It's not a huge shift, but it's reflective of where the show was already going," said Eileen O'Neill, TLC's president and general manager. "Jon's going to be involved in the show," she said, adding that he will be seen less often than before. "TLC retains an exclusive arrangement with him, as well as the rest of the family," O'Neill went onto state.
The fifth season premiere attracted a record 9.8 million viewers, making it the most-watched show of that evening including those on broadcast TV, but after a six-week hiatus from new episodes, only 4.2 million viewers tuned in to see 'Jon & Kate Plus 8' on August 3, and only 1.7 million reportedly watched last Monday.
Discussions are also under way with Kate Gosselin for another series that may debut in 2010, Eileen O'Neill also stated. "I think there's an opportunity for Kate beyond her role as a supermom to explore her other interests."

As for Jon Gosselin, reportedly he is "fed up," and has been trying to get out of his contract for months. "Jon has a lot of ideas for reality shows to do on other networks," stated a source to E! Online. Jon Gosselin will reportedly be in Los Angeles on Wednesday, where he has several meetings, as well as an appearance on 'Larry King Live' planned.

Good for TLC for dropping Jon Gosselin. Concerned about his family, right, concerned about his wallet. If those children are going to be affected it will be from his very public affairs and drinking. Have you heard his interviews? No wonder Kate is the spoksman of the family, his stupidity shines. "I need to take control of my own life, blah, blah, blah!" News..8 kids too late. Grow up and take responsibility. Kate, the biggest mistake (aside from marrying this child) is to ever take him back. You and the kids deserve more.
