Kate Middleton-worn designer Vittorio Missoni feared dead in plane crash (Video)

One of Kate Middleton's favorite designers is feared dead following the disappearance of his plane off the coast of Venezuela. Italian fashion designer Vittorio Missoni and his wife were on the twin-engine plane, which was reported missing late Friday night, the Mirror reports today (Sunday). Along with the couple, the plane was carrying two friends of the Missoni's and two crew members on their way from the Los Roques islands to Venezuela's capital city of Caracas.

Vittorio Missoni, 58 is the eldest of three children of Rosita and Ottavio Missoni who started the design house. Vittorio and his siblings, Luco and Angela, are all heavily involved in the family business which reportedly grosses around $100 million annually. A spokesperson for the family confirms the Missoni family has been informed that the plane the fashion boss was on did not arrive at it's destination and that those on board remain missing.

The Duchess of Cambridge has worn Missoni creations to several notable outings including Diamond Jubilee events. One of her favorite pieces is a blue tweed Missoni M overcoat which she wore to official royal duties in both March and June 2012.

In 2011, the designer label, popular with many celebrities, gained widespread attention in the U.S. when it partnered with retailer Target for an affordable line of its trademark zigzags.
