Kate Middleton will make her first appearance since giving birth to George today (Friday, August 30), the palace has confirmed. The Duchess of Cambridge's return to royal duties comes weeks earlier than expected. In a last minute decision, the first time mom has decided to join Prince William to kickoff the Ring O' Fire Ultra Marathon in Anglesey. "The Duchess of Cambridge will attend the Ring O’ Fire Anglesey Coastal Ultra Marathon with her husband The Duke of Cambridge today," Clarence House confirmed in a tweet sent out just hours before the event.
The Royal Baby Blog reported earlier this week that there was some talk that the duchess may decide to join her husband for the event which he will kickoff. Any decision, it was reported, would be a gameday one.
Today's marathon start will be only the second royal engagement for Prince William since George's birth on July 22. Both events have been in Anglesey, Wales -- the community where the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have lived in relative privacy and normalcy for the last three years. Prince William confirmed they will soon be 'moving elsewhere' when he ends his contract with RAF Anglesey in mid-September and the family moves to London.
Only yesterday did the Palace confirm Kate's September 15 appearance at the Tusk Trust Awards. That was the first diary event post-pregnancy announced for Kate Middleton who only gave birth to Prince George six weeks ago.
