Whether you think she channeled Grace Kelly or a gorgeous future queen, most fashionistas can agree that Princess Catherine (Kate) Middleton, the Duchess of Cambridge looked stunning in her Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen wedding gown.
From the perfect v-neck to the lace bodice and billowly silk skirt, the newly minted royal definitely showcased her sophisticated, elegant and regal fashion sense. She may have worn long sleeves, but the hint of skin showing through the luxurious lace was sexier than most strapless gowns. That stunning, intricate lace applique detail was crafted by the Royal School of Needlework. We expected nothing less.
Compared to Princess Diana and other royal weddings, Princess Catherine's train was short and sweet. Long enough for the regal look and short enough to focus all the attention on the beaming bride. Her gorgeous ivory veil and blusher combined with her heirloom Cartier tiara and white floral bouquet offered a simple, understated and classic look.
If Princess Catherine's dress is any indication of her new royal wardrobe, we should all expect more high fashion from Britain's stylish new princess.
Of course, Prince William, the Duke of Cambridge looked dashing and excited to see his beautiful bride, as did her sister, Pippa Middleton who looked ravishing in her white Sarah Burton dress.
What should we expect for this year's brides? Those who love the sleek sexy look will ask for Pippa's dress and those with princess stars in their eyes will scream for Princess Catherine's dress style.
While Sarah Burton is known for her celebrity clients such as Michelle Obama and Lady Gaga, this royal wedding has catapulted her into the hall of fame for designers. It is moments like these that prove that the legacy of founder Alexander shines on in its best form.
