Kate Middleton's 31st birthday: Details on her low key celebration

Kate Middleton will turn 31 years old tomorrow (Wednesday, Jan. 9), but don't except a big party to celebrate her last birthday before she welcomes her first child. St. James's Palace confirms the Duchess of Cambridge will celebrate her birthday privately. "She just wants something low-key," Us Weekly cites a source as saying today (Thursday).

While it's clear Kate will spend her birthday out of the public eye, there are conflicting reports about where she'll celebrate. "I suspect she will spend it at her parents' house," a source tells the U.S.-based tabloid. However, UK's Mirror reports it's actually believed Kate has returned to the home she and Wills' share in Wales, where he is currently working as a Search and Rescue pilot for the RAF.

As far as birthday gifts fit for a princess, it's been widely reported Prince William is planning to present his wife details on a few country homes he's considering purchasing. "Wills has narrowed down the list to a few incredible places in Hampshire and Buckinghamshire around the ($2.3) million mark. They don't want to be too close to London," a source recently told Look magazine.

Later this year, the royal couple will make the move from Wales to London. An apartment in Kensington Palace will be their main base when they are in London. Prince William also has a cottage in Norfolk, which Queen Elizabeth gave him for his 30th birthday.
