Kate Middleton had a busy holiday schedule, but walking away from a car crash after driving down a one-way street the wrong way was not one of the activities she participated in. A woman claiming to be Kate Middleton, the Duchess of Cambridge, did however cause such an accident and put up a stink about being prosecuted because she believed she hailed from the royal family, according to the Metro on Dec. 26.
A 44-year-old woman is lucky to be alive today after going down a one-way street the wrong way and flipping her car in Taranaki, New Zealand. When police arrived on the scene the woman insisted she was Kate Middleton. The woman walked away with minor injuries and police didn't reveal her real name.
Apparently the woman had been swerving across the road before she crashed. Senior constable Grant Kennard said that “a car had to swerve to miss her. It was a close shave.” He also said she was lucky that no one was coming in the other direction.
Kennard said that the woman thought she was Kate Middleton and that it was apparent that they were dealing with someone who was having some mental health issues. She repeated to the police several times, “You can’t touch me because I am royal.”
There is no word if the woman resembled Kate in anyway. From the sounds of the reported incident, the cops knew right away that the woman wasn’t Kate, for starters she is almost 15 years older than the future Queen.
Kennard did say one thing was obvious and that was that this Kate Middleton imposter was not in any condition to drive. She was someone he called “not in a fit state of mind.”
