Kate Middleton’s commoner side is showing and folks just love her for this. Apparently while Kate was pregnant, she was doing a little shopping at an antique shop. She found what she wanted and asked the shop owner for a discount, according to UPI News on Oct. 9. The shop owner recently shared this story with the media and she was thrilled that Kate bargained down the price.
Kate’s shopping habits appear just like any other woman her age, but because she’s about to move into a palace surrounded by royalty, this asking for a discount episode is making headline news. Sure Kate didn’t need a discount, but she is used to shopping like the rest of the world. No one goes into an antiques store and expects to pay ticket price!
The owner of the Old Stables Antique Shop, near the Queen’s Sandringham estate, said that she obliged Kate. She also added that “I love her for asking,” Caroline Combes thought Kate was within her full rights as a shopper to ask a discount.
Meanwhile Prince William was sitting and waiting in a car outside said Caroline’s husband, Roger Combes. His take on the future king was interesting. Roger Combes said:
“If I may say so, William looked like every man who’s forced to go shopping with his wife, which is bored bloody stiff and didn’t get out of the car."
This is just one more incident where Kate brings a breath of fresh air to the Royal family's reputation. It also reminds the world just how normal Kate and William are as a couple.
