Kate Middleton criticized has fans of the pregnant Duchess of Cambridge talking about the controversy this week, as WTVR News reported this Tuesday, Feb. 19, that author Hilary Mantel recently called Kate Middleton out, calling her a “jointed doll” with a “plastic smile.”
Hilary Mantel, an award-winning author, raised quite a bit of controversy today after she described Kate Middleton as a “machine-made doll … bearing a plastic smile” that is lacking the very human personality and grace of the former Princess Diana.
Discussing in the London Review her comments on the royal lives under public scrutiny, Hilary Mantel has already received harsh feedback today after she feels the focus on the pregnant Kate Middleton’s baby bump photos, fashion, and philanthropy works — such as serving as patron of the Action on Addiction charity — is undermining her role as UK royalty.
While talking about the pregnant mom-to-be, Mantel started the hotly debated “Kate Middleton criticized” search frenzy with her statement:
“I saw Kate becoming a jointed doll on which certain rags are hung … a shop-window mannequin, with no personality of her own, entirely defined by what she wore. Now, her only point and purpose [will be] to give birth.”
