Kate Middleton criticized: Kate Middleton attacked by author (Video)

Kate Middleton criticized? That appears to be the case, as Kate Middleton is attacked by a novelist who feels the wife of Prince William doesn’t measure up to Princess Diana in any way, shape, or form.

The author in question, Hilary Mantel (a Booker-Prize winning author), bashes Kate for appearing fake and phony, likening her to a doll.

Specifically, Mantel attacks Middleton for being “a jointed doll on which certain rags were hung ... a shop-window mannequin."

In a speech given earlier this month, Mantel also criticizes Kate for having "appeared to have been designed by committee and built by craftsmen, with a perfect plastic smile and the spindles of her limbs hand-turned and gloss-varnished."

The speech Mantel gave was recently republished in the London Review of Books. The overarching theme of the speech was the British people’s unique relationship with royalty. Similar to America’s obsession with celebrities, Mantel discussed the complicated relationship the public has with royalty, which touched on voyeurism and adulation.

Mantel’s speech also talked about Anne Boleyn to Princess Diana. And in her criticism of Kate, it’s clear that Hilary doesn’t believe Middleton measures up to the late Princess Diana.
