Kate Middleton and Prince William: Separate New Year’s

Kate Middleton and Prince William spent their second New Year’s Eve as a married couple apart, each busy with his or her own job. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge went their separate ways, reported the Mirror on Wednesday, Jan. 2. She hung out, under her mother’s special care in Bucklebury, and he pulled holiday duty in Wales, out braving a raging storm. No doubt, Duchess Catherine was cozier.

Last year, the newlyweds spent New Year’s Eve in a secluded cottage in Scotland, but this year they have too much to do. Prince William is likely to be quitting his search and rescue job soon, and he has missed several days of work recently, tending to his pregnant wife, so he was on first call duty back at the base in Wales. The prince tries hard not to ask for special favors, which means working this holiday detail was very much in order. As it turns out, two men walking a dog were swept into the water –no details on exactly how – and one of them could not be found. Prince William and all available manpower searched the cold and raging seas for hours, trying for a rescue that did not happen. What a sad way to begin the new year.

The pregnant duchess was resting, not even aware that her husband was out fighting a killer storm. She, in fact, was seen, reports People, out buying cheddar mini-crackers. It seems her craving for high-carb snacks is still on-going, but she has to keep up her strength.

Kate Middleton and Prince William have an exciting year to look forward to. A baby changes everything.
