Kate Gosselin twin daughters afraid to speak on 'Today'? Behind-the-scenes scoop

Kate Gosselin and her twin daughters, Mady and Cara, appeared on NBC's "Today Show" Thursday morning and it was a disaster. It was painful to watch as Kate wanted her girls to back up her claims that everything is good at home with all of them. There were some extra details that a show insider revealed to RadarOnline Jan. 16 after the interview was conducted.

“Kate and the girls were very talkative, but the girls were definitely sleepy. Cara and Mady’s manners were impeccable and they chatted with producers before the segment,” the source said.

Things changed right away with the Gosselin girls when the cameras began rolling.

“But as soon as the girls got on the set, their mood immediately changed. It was obvious to anyone watching they simply froze on camera,” the insider added.

Later on mom Kate was beyond upset and questioned Cara about what happened during the interview.

“She kept asking what happened and she simply shrugged her shoulders,” the source said. “This seemed to make Kate even angrier and she rolled her eyes to onlookers nearby.”

Did Mady and Cara avoid from speaking on "Today" because they suddenly got camera shy or because they were afraid to say what they really felt? "Today's" Savannah Guthrie asked general questions to Mady and Cara like how they were doing and if what a lot of people say is true about their lives. Neither one of the girls denied the rumors and offered very little information. They gave everyone reason to speculate more on the negative, however. Kate Gosselin was clearly annoyed with her daughters and kept pushing them to say something more during the interview.

The "Today" insider said everyone felt for the Gosselin twins doing the interview with Kate.

“We all genuinely felt for the girls. Kate is a tough cookie to please, it’s obvious that she expects a lot from Mady and Cara,” the source concluded.
