Kate Gosselin r-word: Reality star haunted by leaked 8-year-old private email

Kate Gosselin R-word news is making headlines this week because reality TV star Kate Gosselin used the R-word (Retarded) in a private email to Jon Gosselin eight years ago. Apparently, when it comes to emails, there is not statute of limitation and time does not matter. So beware of what you write. Gosselin’s private email to her former husband Jon in which she used the R-word was leaked by author Robert Hoffman and is now haunting the reality TV star, reports NewsOXY on July 26.

In December of 2006, Jon forwarded an email to Kate which had originated from the coordinator of “MOST” (Mothers of Supertwins.) In the email, the coordinator asked Jon if he would post something for her forum of Mothers of Supertwins. After receiving the forwarded email from Jon, Kate wrote back with a quite inadequate response. “These people are retarded!”

How author Robert Hoffman got a hold of an eight-year-old private email from Kate to her then husband Jon is unknown. The reality TV star of “Jon & Kate Plus 8” or the renamed “Kate Plus 8” is the subject of Hoffman’s book KATE GOSSELIN: How She Fooled The World: The Rise And Fall Of A Reality TV Queen. The book was published on July 18, 2014, and according to Amazon’s description, the book is revealing that Kate Gosselin’s home was in fact a “house of horrors.”

“INSIDE KATE GOSSELIN'S 'HOUSE OF HORRORS' Conspiracy. Massive Coverup. Lawsuits and Legal Threats. Exploitation. Fraud. Abuse. Animal Cruelty. Lies. Read The Book that two of the most powerful law firms in the country have tried to stop from being published. You'll never look at 'Reality' TV the same again. ‘She has as much right to this being kept private as anyone,’ Gosselin's attorney, Marc Randazza, told ABC News.”

According to most reviewers of the new tell-all book, Kate Gosselin’s use of the r-word is really no surprise as it is an indication of a stressed-out, abusive, and greedy mother. As one reviewer wrote:

“As an early watcher of ‘Jon & Kate Plus 8,’ Kate Gosselin's behavior always baffled me. As a fellow wife and mother, I couldn't believe what I was seeing. … Now, reading Kate's own journal and emails, everything makes sense. Kate Gosselin is simply a very sick woman, with serious mental health issues.”

Or as another reviewer of the book wrote:

“Mr. Hoffman has written a book that exposes the abuse and exploitation of 8 innocent and beautiful children by their narcissistic, greedy mother-Kate Gosselin This author is nothing less than a hero for taking the risk of continual legal threats from Kate Gosselin and her corporate lawyer thugs and writing the truth of the horror of these children's lives. If you thought Mommy Dearest was a character of the past, think again. Kate Gosselin, in her own words as shared by this author, talks about how she beat babies in diapers on a daily basis. She talks about all the grifting and greed that has been the focus of her life. She talks about the constant travels and ‘me time’ that has been her priority. Kate is one of the most scary characters I have encountered in any book and this isn't even a work of fiction.”

Kate Gosselin’s use of the R-word in an email (even though it was eight years ago) has also ignited a response by the Special Olympics. As reported by, the Special Olympics provided a statement in regard to the issue saying that “we’re always saddened and disappointed when we hear people using the R-word. We encourage people to go to and take the pledge. It’s important because it’s respect toward everyone.”
