Kate Gosselin clarifies insensitive tweet about PPD

Kate Gosselin made a rare apology via Twitter on Sunday evening, trying to soften a comment in which Kate claimed that she managed to avert postpartum depression by refusing to get it after she gave birth to sextuplets in 2004.

On Saturday, Kate Gosselin responded to one of her fans who implied that Kendra Wilkinson, Kate's "Celebrity Wife Swap" partner, was allegedly drinking because she may have suffered from PPD (postpartum depression).

Kate then inserted her own experience as it related to PPD by saying, "I had zero time to think about myself and how I was feeling.aware I could slip into it [PPD] easily and refused!:)."

The comment drew ire as some moms pointed out that PPD is not something one can simply "refuse". One critic who goes by the handle emmanews96, responded, "please correct wrong info about PPD. Family member had it. Not a choice. Nightmare. Don't add 2 shame moms feel."

Sunday evening Kate took to Twitter to clarify, tweeting, "Clarifying my comment last pm: I didnt mean2imply that PPD was a CHOICE.I meant I 'refused'-mindset I use in life often, whether helps or not."

Another fan, with the initials K.R. tried to further educate Kate, tweeting, "I tried to refuse to give in to it, fought it. Then one day boom, it was like hitting a wall and falling into the dark."

Again, Kate tried to acknowledge her insensitivity by responding to K.R., "oh wow. I learned about it and believe it is REAL. I was one of the lucky ones I guess! So sorry to hear of ur struggle. Scary!"
