On Feb. 26, reality TV star Kate Gosselin and former Playboy model Kendra Wilkinson appeared on ABC's Celebrity Wife Swap. Although Kate is not married, her good friend Deanna stepped in to help. It was definitely a change of scenery for both Kate and Kendra. Kate joined Kendra's husband Hank and one child, little Hank Jr. who is two years old. Kendra was in shock when she realized she was going to have to play mom to Kate's eight kids Mady, Cara, Hannah, Leah, Alexis, Joel, Aaden and Collin.
Life at Kate's house was very different for Kendra who had to get up at 5:30 a.m. to feed the chickens and get the kids ready for school. She did laundry, went to the grocery store and noticed how much food it takes to feed the children for one day. Back in Los Angeles, Kendra is accustomed to the nanny, Rosa, and her husband doing the chores.
After 24 hours Kendra said, "This has been the longest day of my entire life. The fact that Kate does this every day. I don't know how she does it. There's so much I have to do before I go to bed. I don't know one person my age who has this much structure and this much discipline".
In Los Angeles, Kate was surprised how laid back Kendra's life is during the day. Kendra's husband, Hank, takes little Hank to preschool while the nanny takes care of the household chores. Kate was instructed to relax and do whatever she wants. Kate had a hard time relaxing at first; however, she decided to go ahead and enjoy time by the pool. Kate also went out with Kendra's friends and Hank cooked dinner.
When the rules were changed, Kate implemented more structure and routine to little Hank's day while Kendra relaxed the rules with Kate's eight children. Kate made little Hank clean up his toys, eat at the family table for dinner and participate in activities with the family. Kendra allowed the kids not to eat at the family table, skip on some chores and went out for fun on a school night.
At the end of the show, Kendra and Kate meet to discuss their experiences. According to Kate's Twitter page, ABC edited the show for more drama when in reality, Kate and Kendra bonded and there was no tension.
Kate tweeted: "Rest assured.. This is edited to be short so it comes across a little different then what was meant" and "editing shortened it. Was a love fest round table meeting! Promise!"
The conclusion was that Kate relax a little bit and take time for herself while Kendra spend a bit more time with little Hank and pick up some more chores around the house. The episode helped Kate gain some more respect due to her parenting methods.
