Kat von D Los Angeles Fashion Show took place at the Kesselhaus on January 18, 2013 in Berlin, Germany. The former "LA Ink" star launched a clothing line back in 2011 with her first collection entitled "Love Letters." Certainly being an artist lends some credibility to Von D venturing off into design land, however her business approach has been questioned and her most recent fashion show would seem to support the idea that either she does not take this line very seriously or has too many things on her plate to do it well.
The designs for her Autumn/Winter 2013/14 collection are by all fashion standards, nothing special. Von D's coat and jacket designs have always been her strong suit, but in her fashion show on January 18th it would seem that someone forgot to bring a steamer. Not only were the coats not pressed, but several ensembles were wrinkled and looked as though they had just been flung out of a suitcase. With a busy life as a tattoo artist, tattoo shop owner, author, and even her own make-up line, perhaps Von D has taken on too much.
Even her clothing line's Facebook page touts comments from angry customers such as Lauren 'Ren' Schalk saying, "Kat Von D's clothing line is run by incompetent idiots. Or run by no one. Hard to say. In other words, don't give them your money. You will receive nothing in return and no email response."
And here's one from Jane Dilman, "Since November I can't order anything on your site. And still have no answer by my numerous emails. It's a pity that I couldn't buy a present for my birthday."
Or what about poor Julie Viens,"Was trying to get the status on an order I placed around Black Friday and have emailed 3 times, and phoned, per the contact information on the website, and have heard nothing back from anyone. Can someone please tell me who I can contact about my order?"
The fashion business is a business. If Kat Von D does not get serious about running a tight ship soon, nobody is going to take her seriously no matter how good her designs are.
