Each week during the high school sports season the High School Sports Examiner and the Eastern Maine Sports Blog will announce a female and male athlete of the week. You can send your nominations to Marc at easternmainesports@gmail.com.

When you send your nominations include the athlete, name of the school, stats for the week of the nomination.

2014 spring season- Week 3-May 4th-May 10th

Female

Kassidy Seeley- Washington Academy- softball- Pitched a two hitter and struck out 12 in 3-1 victory over Ellsworth. Had three hits and was the winning pitcher in 14-2 win over Lee. Pitched a two hitter and struck out 18 in 12-3 win over Orono. Pitched a two hitter and stuck out seven in 1-0 victory over Bucksport.

Seeley is the third student/athlete from Washington Academy to earn athlete of the week honors and the first to earn female athlete of the week. She joins Tehon Fox (9-23-12) and Gage Feeney (three time winner).

Seeley and the Raiders have a 6-1 record and are currently on a six game winning streak.

Runner up

Jewel Lamb- PCHS- softball- The freshman hit a three run homer and a grand slam in 17-0 victory over Bangor Christian. Had two hits in 15-4 win over Schenck.

Other nominations

Mataya Hartin- Southern Aroostook- softball- Had a two run homer, two singles, and five RBI in 28-8 victory over Hodgdon. Had a two run homer, two doubles, and three RBI in 10-9 loss to Katahdin.

Rachel Martin- Old Town- softball- Had the game winning hit and was the winning pitcher in 8-7 extra inning victory over MDI.

Bri Brochu- Gardiner- softball- Had four hits (two triples) in 21-0 victory over Waterville.

Daynah Brown- Woodland- softball- Had three hits (two triples, one double) and six RBI in 25-13 win over Jonesport-Beals.
