Karli Theberge earns second female athlete of the week

Each week during the high school sports season the High School Sports Examiner and the Eastern Maine Sports Blog will announce a female and male athlete of the week. You can send your nominations to Marc at easternmainesports@gmail.com.

When you send your nominations include the athlete, name of the school, stats for the week of the nomination.

2014 spring season- Week 4- May 11th-May 17th

Female

Karli Theberge- Hermon- softball- Went 3-3, including a double, triple, two RBI, two runs scored, and also threw a complete game three hitter, struck out 10, and did not allow any earned runs to earn the victory in 10-2 win over John Bapst. Had two hits and two RBI in 8-5 win over MDI. She also earned the save as she came in with runners on 2nd and 3rd and no outs and got out of the jam. For the week, Theberge was 5-8 with a double and triple and 4 RBI. She is now hitting .608 (14-23) on the season. Pitching for the week was 8 IP 4 hits, 0 walks, 12 strikeouts 0 ER , win, and a save.

Theberge also earned athlete of the week honors for her performance two weeks ago.

Runner up

Kassidy Seeley- Washington Academy- softball- Pitched a two hitter and struck out 18 in 7-0 win over George Stevens. Pitched a three hitter in 11-1 victory over Narraguagus.

Other nominations

Olivia Lewis- Schenck- softball- Had two hits, one run scored, one RBI in 3-2 victory over Katahdin in the first game of a doubleheader. Had three hits, three runs scored, and two RBI in 10-10 tie versus Katahdin.

Courtney Richardson- PCHS- softball- Had three hits, including a double, three RBI, one stolen base, and pitched the complete game, walking only one to earn the victory in 8-6 victory over Stearns.

Dina Bilodeau- Mount View-softball- Had two hits, four RBI, including a three run homer, and pitched the complete game in 7-5 victory over Morse.

Hillary Libby- Winslow- softball- Had three hits, three runs scored, three RBI, and was the winning pitcher in 12-7 win over Oceanside. Pitched a one hitter and struck out eight in 7-2 win over Erskine.

Marissa Chasse- Central Aroostook- softball- Had five hits and four RBI in 16-15 win over Ashland.

Kendra Thurlow- Mattanawcook- softball- Went 3-4 with a double and three RBI in 8-2 victory over Central.

Allessa Oakes- Hermon- softball- Had three hits, two RBI, and allowed six hits in six innings with nine strikeouts to earn the victory in 8-5 win over MDI.
