Each week during the high school sports season the High School Sports Examiner and the Eastern Maine Sports Blog will announce a female and male athlete of the week. You can send your nominations to Marc at firstname.lastname@example.org.
When you send your nominations include the athlete, name of the school, stats for the week of the nomination.
2014 spring season- Week 2-April 28th-May 3rd
Karli Theberge- Hermon- softball- Pitched a four hitter and struck out eight in 13-0 victory over Ellsworth. Also went 3-3 with two RBI, two runs scored, one stolen base, and a home run in win over Ellsworth. Pitched eight innings and only allowed three and ZERO earned runs in 4-0 loss to Old Town (who scored 56 runs in first four games before this performance). Went 1-3 at the plate in game against Old Town. Went 2-3 with three RBI, one run scored, and a double in 16-0 win over John Bapst. Theberge is the second student/athlete from Hermon high school to earn athlete of the week honors. Tyler Thayer was named male athlete of the week on February 17th, 2014.
Allesa Oakes- Hermon- softball- Pitched a no hitter and struck out eight. She hit a two run triple and.a double in 16-0 win over John Bapst.
Jordynne Litlefield- PCHS- softball- Had four hits, including a home run in 15-8 win over Lee Academy..
Courtney Richardson- PCHS- softball- Pitched a complete game striking out five, had three hits (including a double), scored three runs, and stole a base in 15-8 win over Lee Academy.
Kassidy Seely- Washington Academy- softball- Pitched a two hitter and struck out 13 in 12-0 victory over Sumner.
Abbey Jordan- Dexter- softball- Pitched a one hitter and struck out three in 13-1 victory over Lee Academy.
