Nearly a month after she disappeared, the body of Karla Villagra-Garzon has been found, 20 miles from her own Elizabeth, New Jersey home. She was strangled and beaten, then left in a vacant house. Her husband, Abayuba Rivas, has been charged with first-degree murder, believed to be the person responsible for his wife's death. believed to be caused by blunt force trauma and asphyxiation.

Rivas claimed that he had last seen his wife on February 23, when she left to get cough medicine for her 2-year-old daughter at a nearby Walgreens. Security tapes never show her arriving at the store and no one came forward who remembered seeing her on the way.

Apparently evidence at the scene led authorities to Rivas' involvement, because prior to finding her remains, there was literally no information about what happened to Karla. It was as if she just disappeared.

What would cause a husband to kill his wife? Were there any previous reports of domestic violence? Any signs of affairs? Was their marriage obviously troubled? Did they have an argument that went too far? There could be any number of things that went on behind the closed doors of this relationship, leading to the brutal death of the young mother. Hopefully justice will be served for Karla.
