"Dancing with the Stars" pro Karina Smirnoff wears a full face of makeup on the show, so it's not surprising that she likes to tone down her everyday look. However, she admits that she does use one special makeup trick that she's learned while getting ready to perform on "DWTS."
According to a Monday, September 16 report by Allure, Smirnoff revealed that she's made contouring a part of her everyday makeup look. "Even if I don’t do mascara or lipstick or shadow, I’ll do a little foundation and a little contour on the cheekbones and the nose," she said. To achieve the perfect contour, you can sculpt your cheekbones by using different shades of foundation, blush, and bronzer.
Karina Smirnoff might like using darker shades of makeup to contour her face, but she's not the biggest fan of the famous "Dancing with the Stars" spray tans. "I don’t do it once the season ends, because I'm watching my skin," she said. Instead she rocks a "borderline bluish white" skin color.
Of course "DWTS" isn't all about perfect makeup and spray tans—the dancers have to work hard to get their bodies ready for those punishing rehearsals. According to a Sunday, September 15 report by Metro, Smirnoff doesn't just dance to stay in shape—her workout routine also includes brutal hour-and-a-half-long yoga sessions. However, she's not too strict on herself when it comes to what she eats. She does try to eat healthy and mostly avoids meat, but she doesn't see a problem with having the occasional treat—it just has to be eaten at the right time. "Having a piece of cake and then running it off is OK," she said. "But having a piece of cake before going to bed means it goes straight to your butt."
