Ukrainian beauty, Karina Smirnoff, who has competed on 14 seasons of “Dancing with the Stars," and Derek Hough, the only four-time pro champion, are representing the ABC hit reality series at the 2013 Emmy Awards. Karina attended a pre-Emmy bash on Sept. 21 that was sponsored by HBO. Derek, who is choreographing the opening number, is also representing “DWTS” at the 2013 Emmys.
On Saturday, Smirnoff hit the scene of the HBO Luxury Lounge that features products by Motorola and Pandora. This year, HBO has invited TV stars to treat themselves to manicures, pedicures, and makeup makeovers. It’s all in anticipation of the 2013 Primetime Emmy Awards, which airs on Sunday, Sept. 22 on CBS.
The HBO Luxury Lounge is always one of the hottest tickets around come Emmy time. Attendees are treated to incredible swag bags. This year’s sought-after goodie bag from HBO includes a Motorola X Smartphone (valued at $600), a Mesa infant car seat, a Logitech FabricSkin Keyboard for iPad, and Pandora Jewelry. It looks like Karina hit the jackpot on Saturday night.
According to ABC.com, “Dancing with the Stars” is up for nine Emmy Awards in 2013, including "Outstanding Reality-Competition Program." Tom Bergeron was recognized in the category Outstanding Host for a Reality or Reality-Competition Program.
“Dancing with the Stars” also received nominations in the categories "Outstanding Art Direction for Variety or Nonfiction Programming," "Outstanding Choreography," "Outstanding Hairstyling for a Multi-Camera Series or Special," "Outstanding Lighting Design/Lighting Direction for a Variety Series," "Outstanding Makeup for a Multi-Camera Series or Special (Non-Prosthetic)," and "Outstanding Technical Direction, Camerawork, Video Control for a Series."
According to Wetpaint, Derek Hough from “DWTS” has not only choreographed the opening number, but he will also dance with host Neil Patrick Harris. Hough said on Saturday, “It's really diverse and just the costumes alone will blow your mind.”
In 2013, Outstanding Choreography will be recognized for the first time time during the Primetime Emmy Awards. In years past, the award was presented during the Creative Arts Emmys.
The 65th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards airs at 7 p.m. EST (4 p.m. PST) on Sunday, Sept. 22 on CBS.
