Karen Perrin, locked in a bathroom for eight hours, is making headlines, but who is she really?

It turns out that the woman locked in a bathroom, Karen Perrin, has some interesting affiliations. She works in the offices of Bill and Melinda Gates foundation in Washington, DC, and she just happens to be married to former Washington Redskins running back Lonnie Perrin, according to ABC. Her husband also played college football at the University of Illinois, and he played pro football for the Denver Broncos and the Chicago Bears.

Her story unfolded on Friday night when she was working late and making travel arrangements for her employer. After phoning the former NFL player and letting him know that she was leaving work in 10 or 15 minutes, Perrin took a final trip to the ladies room.

That's when she found herself locked in the bathroom. Karen Perrin discovered that she had left her cell phone at her desk. In an attempt to alert security, she pushed approximately 200 paper towels through the gap at the bottom of the bathroom door. Unfortunately, no one noticed.

According to reports, Karen Perrin was locked in the bathroom for eight hours. During her ordeal, she climbed onto a chair and looked into a hatch in the ceiling. Although the hatch did not provide an escape route, it did reveal a 3 foot long pole hidden in the rafters. It was that pole that Perrin used to dig a hole through a wall large enough to reach her arm through to unlock the bathroom door.

Once she escaped being locked in the bathroom, Karen Perrin phoned her husband and daughter only to discover that they were about to go looking for her. Her family was afraid that something had happened to her when she never arrived home.
