Karen Perrin got locked in a bathroom as she was getting ready to leave work in Washington, DC, and what she did to free herself is pretty crazy. On Dec. 11, Huffington Post reported that Perrin was forced to "claw her way" out of the locked bathroom making for an escape similar to "Shawshank Redemption" -- and Perrin even said she thought about the film while trying to free herself.
"I came undone. I was crying. I felt like I was escaping a bad dream, like when you have a nightmare and you wake up and your heart is pounding and you realize, 'Oh, I was just dreaming. Did that just happen. Am I OK?'" Perrin recalled.
Karen Perrin was locked in the bathroom from the inside -- as in the door somehow got locked from the outside and Perrin was trapped -- an undoubtedly scary feeling. While Perrin (wife of former Redskins Running Back Lonnie Perrin) did panic, she managed to get out of the bathroom before being stuck there overnight -- or longer.
According to GMA Yahoo!, Perrin was able to stand on a chair and reach an escape door located in the ceiling. She couldn't hoist herself up but she did find a pole -- a 3-foot long rod of some sort that helped her chisel a hole in the wall next to the bathroom door. She was eventually able to get her hand and arm through to open the bathroom door from the outside.
Karen Perrin's locked bathroom experience was frightening but she was able to get out okay without injuring herself... the damage she left behind, however, well that's another story. No word on how the bathroom door locked from the outside...
