Karen Perrin locked bathroom: A Washington, D.C. woman found herself locked in a restroom late Friday night after she was done working long hours at the office. NY Daily News reports Dec. 12 that Perrin, the wife of former Redskins football player, Lonnie, panicked when she realized she was stuck in the bathroom.

Perrin was locked in the bathroom for eight hours as she worked desperately to claw through a wall in an effort to open the door from the other side. Unfortunately, she had left her cell phone at her desk and was helpless. While she was in the bathroom, the building had been locked up with nobody aware she was still inside.

While Karen Perrin was locked in the bathroom, she proceeded to push, kick, and jiggle the door latch, but it wouldn't move. She shared that it "felt like I was going to die in there because of the anxiety I was feeling."

The woman first pushed 200 paper towels under the restroom door, hoping they would be seen on surveillance cameras and guards would respond. It didn't work, so she climbed on a chair and tried to escape through a hatch in the ceiling. She wasn't able to pull herself up enough to get out, so she got a three-foot pole that she used to hack through the wall so she could try opening the doorknob from the other side. It took her two hours and several cuts on her hands to get out, but she finally did it.

"It felt like I was escaping a bad dream, like when you have a nightmare and you wake up and your heart is pounding and you realize, 'Oh, I was just dreaming. Did that happen. Am I OK?'" Perrin told ABC News.

Perrin thought about the 'Shawshank Redemption' during the whole ordeal. The 1994 movie starred Morgan Freeman and Tim Robbins. Robbins' character manages to tunnel himself to freedom.

While Karen Perrin was locked in the bathroom her husband was understandably beside himself with worry. A search party had been organized and everything. She's just happy to be okay other than a few injuries. She doesn't plan to file any lawsuits, but hopes management will make safer regulations.
