Karen Perrin: Locked in bathroom after work for 8 frightening hours

A Karen Perrin locked bathroom prank is likely to follow one woman around for a while. A Maryland woman got locked inside a bathroom at job on Friday. And eight hours later, she managed to clawed her way out of the ladies room. Perrin admits that being trapped in a locked bathroom reminded her of the movie, "Shawshank Remdemption," according to a Dec. 12 Epoch Times news report.

According to Karen Perrin, she got locked in a bathroom at her office and it was one of the most frightening experiences in her life.

The Maryland resident, spouse of former NFL player, Ronnie Perrin, worked later than usual in her Washington, D.C. office. Before heading home, stopped in the restroom to wash up. Lo and behold, when she turned the lock on the bathroom door, it would not turn. Karen Perrin was locked in the bathroom. And when she realized her cell phone was still on her desk, panic set in.

It felt like I was escaping a bad dream, like when you have a nightmare and you wake up and your heart is pounding and you realize, 'Oh, I was just dreaming. Did that happen? Am I OK?'" she told reporters after her harrowing experience.

Yells for help were of no use and it was unclear if anyone other than the trapped woman was in the building.

Perrin used as many as 200 rolls of toilet paper and pushed the sheets underneath the door, hoping surveillance cameras would detect something out of order. It was another failed attempt.

Perrin found a short pole and used it to bore her way through the wall. For two hours she tried to claw her way into the adjacent men's room, to no avail.

Suddenly, the woman trapped inside the bathroom got lucky; she managed to dig out a hole next to the door that was large enough for her to reach through and unlock the door from the other side. Voila!

All told, Karen Perrin was locked in the bathroom for eight hours. During that time, her husband put together a search party to find her. He was the first person she called when she freed herself.

The woman won't likely forget the experience of being trapped inside a tiny room. And despite her ordeal, she does not intend to pursue legal action against the owners of the building.

Note: Actor Tim Robbins and Morgan Freeman starred in the award-winning 1994 film.
