On yesterday, Feb 6 it was announced that celebrated gospel artist Karen Clark Sheard will perform at the BET Honors taping at the Warner Theatre in Washington, D.C. on Saturday, Feb. 8. The announcement was made by BET Networks.

The other performers announced yesterday are Mariah Carey, Jennifer Hudson, Janelle Monae, Tamar Braxton, Smokey Robinson and Wayne Brady. Rev. Al Sharpton, Joe Morton, Ludacris and Mack Wilds are also scheduled to present at this year's BET Honors.

The BET Honors was created to recognize distinguished African Americans who are performing at exceptional levels. The Queen of Soul, Aretha Franklin, Motown Records founder Berry Gordy, American Express CEO & Chairman, Ken Chenault, visual artist Carrie Mae Weems and entertainment trailblazer, Ice Cube are this year's honorees.

The show well be hosted by actor and comedianWayne Brady, "BET Honors" will premiere during Black History Month on Monday, Feb.24 in the USA and around the world on BET's international network on Feb. 28, at 9 p.m. EST.
