The Kardashians fake 911 call sent SWAT team members to the celebrity family's Los Angeles-area home Friday, but today (Monday) the prank caller remains a mystery. As Examiner.com previously reported the Kardashian-Jenner family was the latest target of a prank known as swatting. "Swatting" is when prank callers call 911 claiming there is an emergency at a home with the intention of having SWAT teams dispatched.
The fake Kardashian 911 call claimed there was a shooting at the family's Hidden Hills home and that the shooter was still inside, TMZ was first to report. As many as 15 SWAT members and three helicopters swarmed the home surprising the family Friday night. “These prank calls are NOT funny! People can get arrested for this!" Kim Kardashian tweeted on Saturday after her mom, Kris Jenner, told her daughter about the incident. "I hope they find out who is behind this. It’s dangerous & not a joke!” Kim's half sister, Kendal Jenner, who was at the family's home when the incident went down tweeted pictures of the massive police response.
Just a day before the Kardashians got swatted, Tom Cruise's home was also swarmed by police for a reported burglary. Authorities reportedly searched the actor's home, but found nothing. Cruise was not home at the time of the call.
It's unclear if both the Cruise and Kardashian fake 911 calls were made by the same person. Justin Bieber, Simon Cowell, and Ashton Kutcher have also been swatting targets.
